Legal Automation and AI Systems

Practical AI. Not impressive demos.

Everyone is talking about AI. Vendors will transform your practice. LinkedIn is full of people who became “AI experts” six months ago. Meanwhile your fee earners are still copying data between systems, chasing the same information, and answering the same questions day after day. We build systems that change that.

Typical engagement range
Automation and workflow£5k – £40k
AI systems and agents£40k – £100k

Fixed price. Scoped before we start. The Digital AI Readiness Assessment helps you understand exactly where the highest-value work sits before committing to a build.

Not sure where to start?

The Legal AI Readiness Assessment maps where your firm is losing time and where AI would genuinely help. £3,000 fixed price. A clear picture before you commit to anything.

Start with the assessment
What we hear
“My team spends 40% of their time on work that does not require a lawyer.
What that actually costs
At £250 per hour, 40% of a five-person team is over £100,000 a year in fee earner time on manual tasks.
What We Build

Practical solutions.
Not impressive
demos.

Sometimes the answer is straightforward. Sometimes it requires a more considered approach. Either way, we start with the problem and work back to the right solution. We never recommend what does not fit.

Category 01

AI assistants and client interfaces

Purpose-built AI tools for specific legal tasks. Not generic chatbots. Systems trained on your precedents, your practice area knowledge, and the questions your clients and fee earners actually ask. Fast to respond, consistently accurate, and supervised by you.

Client intake and qualification tools
Matter-specific AI assistants for fee earners
Internal Q&A over your policy and precedent library
First-draft generation for standard documents
Category 02

Knowledge and document systems

Your firm’s knowledge is locked in email threads, shared drives, and the heads of your most experienced people. We build systems that surface it, organise it, and make it useful to everyone in the firm. When a partner leaves, the knowledge stays.

Searchable precedent and know-how libraries
AI-powered document review and comparison
Automated matter summaries and attendance notes
Due diligence assistance and checklist automation
Category 03

Workflow and process automation

The work between the legal work. Scheduling, reporting, file management, compliance checks, billing data, onboarding. Tasks that do not require judgement but currently consume significant fee earner and support staff time. We automate them cleanly and reliably.

Matter opening and AML workflow automation
Deadline and court date monitoring
Billing narrative generation and time capture
Regulatory reporting and compliance tracking
Category 04

AI workflows and autonomous agents

More complex multi-step AI systems that can research, draft, review, and coordinate across tasks with minimal human input. Built for the specific legal context where accuracy and auditability are non-negotiable. Human oversight stays in the loop by design.

Research and case law monitoring agents
Contract review and redlining pipelines
Multi-stage document drafting workflows
Cross-matter risk and conflict identification
How We Work

You bring the problem.
We bring the
solution.

You do not need to know whether the answer is AI, automation, or something simpler. That is our job. Tell us what is not working. We figure out the right way to fix it, price it upfront, and deliver it.

Step 01

Tell us what is not working

We start with a conversation about the firm and the friction. Where is time being wasted? What work do your fee earners find themselves doing that they should not be doing? What is slow, unreliable, or dependent on one person knowing the answer? We listen first.

Step 02

We design the right solution

We scope a solution that fits the actual problem. Sometimes that is a simple automation. Sometimes it requires a more sophisticated AI system. We always choose the simplest approach that reliably solves the problem. No complexity for its own sake.

Fixed price confirmed before we build anything
Step 03

Fixed price. Clear outcome.

You know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before we start. No scope creep, no surprises, no hourly billing that grows without explanation. The price we quote is the price you pay.

Step 04

We deliver it. You own it.

Everything we build is yours. We document it properly, train your team on it, and hand over full ownership. If you need ongoing support, we offer it. If you want to manage it internally, you can. No lock-in, no dependency.

Full handover documentation included
Why It Matters

One senior practitioner.
Not a team of
juniors.

The Software 2.0 model

Outcomes, not hours

Traditional technology agencies bill by the hour and staff projects with junior developers supervised at a distance. We work differently. A named senior practitioner with legal and technology expertise scopes, designs, and delivers the work. Fixed price. No delegation, no surprises.

Legal context is not optional

Built for how law firms actually work

Automation built without understanding legal practice creates compliance risk. Client confidentiality, conflict checking, SRA obligations, court deadlines, professional supervision requirements. We build these considerations in from the start, not as an afterthought.

On AI use in builds

We use AI to build it. That keeps costs down.

We are transparent about this. AI tools accelerate our development work significantly. That efficiency passes directly to you in lower costs and faster delivery. The senior practitioner expertise and legal judgement that cannot be automated stays entirely human.

Is This Right For You?

A good fit if this sounds like your firm.

We work with established law firms where the problems are real and the appetite to fix them is genuine. If you are looking for a proof-of-concept demo to show at a partners’ meeting, we are probably not the right fit. If you want something that actually works, we usually are.

Fee earners spending significant time on tasks that do not require their legal expertise
Knowledge concentrated in a few individuals and not systematically captured
Manual processes that are slow, error-prone, or rely on one person knowing the answer
Curious about AI but not sure which vendor claims are real and which are hype
Had a bad experience with a technology project before and want honest advice this time
Want something that works in your specific legal context, not a generic tool adapted for law
Common Questions

The things firms usually ask us.

Will you push AI even if something simpler would work better?+
No. If a straightforward automation or a simple process improvement would solve the problem, we will say so. AI adds complexity and maintenance overhead. We only recommend it when the benefit is clear and the simpler alternatives have been ruled out for good reasons.
How do you handle client confidentiality and data security?+
This is always addressed before design begins. We discuss your data architecture, what client data is involved, how it is processed and stored, and what your obligations are. Every system we build is designed with confidentiality and data protection requirements as constraints, not considerations to retrofit later.
What if we already have a practice management system?+
Most of our work integrates with existing systems rather than replacing them. We look at what your current platforms can and cannot do, and we build in the gaps. If your current system is genuinely the problem, we will tell you that honestly and help you think through the alternatives.
Who maintains the system after it is built?+
Everything we deliver comes with full documentation and a handover to your team. If you want ongoing support from us, we can offer it under a separate support arrangement. If you want to manage it internally, you have everything you need to do that. You own it. We do not create dependency by design.
How long does a typical project take?+
A focused automation for a specific workflow can be built and delivered in two to four weeks. More complex AI systems typically take six to twelve weeks. We agree the timeline before we start and hold to it. We will tell you if that changes and explain why.
Does what you build comply with SRA requirements?+
We design with SRA obligations in mind from the start. Supervision requirements, record-keeping, client confidentiality, and professional accountability are built into the architecture. We are not a compliance adviser and you should satisfy yourself on regulatory questions, but we do not build systems that create regulatory risk by default.
Can this work for a small firm?+
Yes. Some of the highest-impact automation work is in smaller firms, where a handful of time-consuming manual processes account for a disproportionate share of everyone’s week. The economics of fixing a two-hour daily task with automation are compelling at any size.
